The "Lights Out Celebration!" for the public to bid farewell to the 85-year-old Pittsburgh Playhouse on Monday is sold out, but if you are going to be in the neighborhood that night, preparations include a street closing.

Tickets are required to get into the Oakland complex at 222 Craft Ave., and traffic access to Hamlet Street, to the left of the main entrance, will be closed. Additional security and police will be on hand, "to ensure that ticketed guests can enter and exit the venue safely," according to the press release.

The Playhouse closing heralds the coming of the new Downtown home of Point Park University's conservatories and professional Rep company in the fall.

Attendees on Monday night will be able to celebrate with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in the Rockwell Theatre and participate in a "Playhouse Boutique" in the Rauh Theatre, where they can buy props and pieces of history that won't make the move. …
