WINNIPEG. x-10s. A Manitoba politician is facing criticism after saying a near-fatal highway crash was a gift to its victim. Liberal Judy Klassen made the remark while debating a bill on moose hunting. Independent member Steven Fletcher, who is a quadriplegic following a 1996 highway collision with a moose, said he wouldn't mind seeing moose wiped out. Klassen says Fletcher should apologize, and says the accident was a gift that has made Fletcher a spokesman for people in his condition. Fletcher was not amused.
