RYAN Giggs has described Gareth Bale as a 'Manchester United player' - but believes Jose Mourinho faces a fight to prise him away from Real Madrid.

Bale put the Reds on high alert after revealing his frustrations at the Spanish giants.

Executive vice chairman Ed Woodward has long-targeted the Welshman, with Mourinho also a confirmed admirer.

But Zinedine Zidane's decision to step down at Real and the appointment of Julen Lopetegui has prompted Bale to assess his future before pushing for a move.

Asked about a potential move to United, Giggs - who manages Bale in his job as Wales boss - said: "I'd be a happy United fan, that's for sure. I think he's a Man United player. I think the fans would love him.

"The fans would adore him but again, he's at a club where he's won three Champions Leagues, so why would you leave? …
