Carnegie Lake Gets Stocked with Many Pounds of Fish

What do you need to host a fishing derby?

According to the experts at the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, a couple hundred pounds of fish. On Wednesday afternoon, the Carnegie Lake was stocked with more than 650 pounds of channel catfish and over 800 bluegills in preparation for the children's fishing derby on Saturday.

The derby will be the first fishing event hosted at the lake, a newly opened urban fishing spot in Highland Park. The Pittsburgh Parks Conservatory and the Fish and Boat Commission spent two years restoring the lake.

Saturday's event will be open to children ages 5 to 15, and loaner equipment will be available.
