Millions of us walk over a zebra crossing every morning on the way to work, but residents of this property are lucky enough to have the most famous one in the world on their doorstep.

It's the road crossing featured on the front of The Beatles' 11th studio album Abbey Road (inset), named after the EMI studios nearby where the LP was made.

It was to be the last time the Fab Four recorded together.

The photo, taken at approximately 11.30am on August 8, 1969 by freelance snapper Iain Macmillan from atop a 10ft ladder, shows John Lennon in an all-white suit followed by Ringo Starr, a shoeless Paul McCartney and George Harrison.

The crossing attracts over 200,000 tourists every year who often throng around it, particularly on weekends. So anyone buying this apartment - within a recently converted and adjacent church - will have to get used to dodging starstruck Beatles fans. …
