Electrical Components International, a manufacturer with headquarters in Creve Coeur, has been sold to Cerberus Capital Management, a private investment firm based in New York.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed Wednesday.

Cerberus acquired ECI, which makes wire harnesses and assembly services for consumer appliance and specialty-industrial applications, from KPS Capital Partners.

ECI has more than 12,000 employees spread over 35 manufacturing facilities around the world.

Under KPS ownership, ECI had made a series of acquisitions, most recently buying Fargo Assembly Co., a North Dakota-based manufacturer of wire harnesses, and some of its affiliates.

ECI traces its beginning to 1953 when the company, then operating as Burcliff Holdings, began making wire harnesses in Mishawaka, Ind. …
