CITY'S first signing of the summer is a 16-year-old with a style that has been compared to Lionel Messi.

The Blues have wrapped up a deal - potentially worth £1m - for Ipswich starlet Ben Knight, who announced on Instagram the deal has been done, and posed with a City shirt.

Midfielder Knight was described by Ipswich academy boss Bryan Klug as potentially the best player he has ever worked with, and City have been watching him for at least two years.

Ipswich's youth teams are noted for their Pep Guardiola-style passing game, and Knight is a midfielder with explosive pace, subtle touch and great control, able to open up defences - hence the notion his style is similar to Barcelona legend Messi.

Another Ipswich product, Kieron Dyer, claimed Knight has the potential to have a better career than he had, and he won 33 England caps and made 190 appearances for Newcastle. …
