UNITED goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has left the club after completing a move to Championship side West Brom.

Johnstone becomes the Baggies' first signing of the summer window following their relegation from the Premier League last season.

The 25-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell at Aston Villa last season and was expected to leave the club this summer with fierce competition for keeping spots at Old Trafford.

Johnstone had 10 loan spells at seven different clubs during his 15 years at the club but has seen any hopes of playing time limited.

"I've grown up at United and had the most amazing time, it's the best club to learn when you are a young player and prepare you for the future," Johnstone said. "I have been here since I was 10 years old so it's a sad day for me to leave permanently. …
