CHURCHILL. x-17s. News that a deal has fallen apart to restore rail services to the northern Manitoba community of Churchill is hard for residents. Denver-based Omnitrax, which owns the Hudson Bay Railway says talks broke down today after months of negotiation to transfer ownership to a consortium of northern communities. Rhoda and Dale de Meulles (deh-MILLS') own the local hardware store and say it's hard to stay in business when they have to fly everything in.

TAG: The rail line was damaged by severe flooding more than a year ago. Federal Natural Resources Minister Jim Carr says in a statement that Canada is determined to find a solution.
