WINNIPEG. x-13s. The Manitoba government says it was caught by surprise by Greyhound's decision to end its bus service across western Canada. The company says it is pulling the plug at the end of October. Infrastructure Minister Ron Schuler says he is hopeful other companies will step forward, but says there will not be any financial aid.

TAG: The previous N-D-P government subsidized Greyhound for a few years, then stopped the subsidies and promised a study of the industry just before the 2016 election. Schuler says that study was never done.
