ENGLAND strike Harry Kane admits the World Cup semifinal defeat to Croatia will hurt for weeks to come.

The Three Lions' brave bid ended in heartbreaking fashion as they suffered a 2-1 extratime defeat in Moscow. Tottenham forward Kane has been one of England's heroes, and is still in line to win the Golden Boot after netting six goals.

But that is small consolation for the England skipper.

"It's tough. We're gutted, we've worked so hard and the fans were amazing," said Kane.

"It was a tough game, a 50-50 game, I'm sure we'll look back at stuff we could have done better but we worked as hard as we could.

"This will hurt for a while but we can hold our heads up, it's been a fantastic journey but we've got to learn from it and take what we can."

And Kane admits he and the rest of the squad felt they were good enough to go on and win the tournament. …
