We've recently received several inquiries about our long-standing payment system for station contributions so we want to clarify the process.

Station submissions are an important part of The Canadian Press news report and help ensure that each broadcaster has ample content from outside its own coverage area.

The Canadian Press pays $5 per story for scripts and audio that reporters submit to edmonton@thecanadianpress.com and are used on the wire.

While we appreciate all submissions, our desk staff always have more material than they can process. Submissions must be triaged and, unfortunately, that means some submitted items aren't used. Stations should only submit stories that include original reporting through interviews, scrums, news conferences, court hearings, etc. …
