ALEXIS Sanchez has been training at Carrington after a 'personal administrative issue' prevented him from travelling on United's pre-season tour of the States.

The Chilean was not among the 24-man squad who met up at Manchester Airport on Sunday to board a flight to Los Angeles.

United fans were left puzzled after Sanchez was spotted out in Wilmslow earlier that day, having trained with his team-mates all week.

The reason behind Sanchez's omission - visa issues - came to light on Monday after the forward was previously handed a 16-month prison sentence for tax fraud during his time at Barcelona.

Sanchez was accused of defrauding the Spanish Treasury of €1m and hiding the income of images rights between 2012 and 2013.

The 29-year-old was handed two consecutive eight-month prison sentences but avoided jail because he is a first-time offender and the sentence is less than two years. …
