JOSE Mourinho went largely unnoticed when he rocked up in Glasgow in March.

The United boss was not even spotted as he made his way into Hampden Park at 7.30pm.

On the surface, there was a very innocent explanation for the Portuguese being in attendance for a meaningless friendly between Scotland and Costa Rica.

His protégé, Scott McTominay, was making his international debut but Mourinho will have been disappointed by the absence of one of the youngster's team-mates that night.

Kieran Tierney, who has been on Mourinho's radar for the majority of his reign at Old Trafford, pulled out with a calf injury in the run-up to the game - long after the United manager's travel arrangements had been made. Club scouts have since been dispatched to watch Tierney, again, and the Celtic skipper is high on the list of left-backs United have monitored. …
