BANFF, Alta. x-19s. Three cubs found abandoned in a washroom along the Trans-Canada Highway in Banff National Park have returned to the area. The female black bears, now yearlings, were sent to the Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary in Ontario last April to give them time to grow. Howard Smith, managing director of the wildlife sanctuary, says they kept contact with the bears to a minimum.

TAG: Following a plane ride from Ontario and a helicopter ride into the backcountry, the bears were released into the wild yesterday. They were fitted with ear tags and G-P-S collars so officials from Parks Canada can keep an eye on them.
