NAT121 - (Ont-Carbon-Price) QUEENS PARK. x-19s. Ontario Environment Minister Rod Phillips met face-to-face with federal counterpart Catherine McKenna today but they couldn't find much common ground. Phillips says he was hoping McKenna would be open to listening to the Ford government's plans around climate change -- which includes the intention to scrap the carbon tax. ("..on carbon.") TAG: The federal government has pledged to "backstop" any province that does not have a carbon price by imposing one of its own, something the Ford government has vowed to challenge in court. But Phillips says a protracted court battle doesn't have to be the only outcome.
