Rain Is on Its Way at Last. but Next Week Will Be Dry

GREATER Manchester is bracing itself for heavy downpours this weekend.

But don't worry, things are expected to dry up next week.

Commuters were hit by showers yesterday afternoon.

It came after extremely dry conditions across the country, with only 47mm of rain falling in Britain so far this summer.

It has been the driest start to summer since modern records began in 1961.

The dry weather has already sparked a hosepipe ban across the north west.

Up to seven million households will be affected when it kicks in on August 5. Dr Michael de Villiers, senior meteorologist at The Weather Channel, said the northern half of the UK can expect to be hit by heavy downpours this weekend.

"Temperatures will gradually rise through the weekend, with maximum temperatures ranging from 17 to 23C in the north. …
