July 26, 1965: The stars of the new musical Passion Flower Hotel pose for a press photo before its world premiere at Manchester's Palace Theatre.

The leading actresses are, from left, Francesca Annis, Pauline Collins and Jean Muir.

The two-act comedy was written by Wolf Mankowitz and Trevor Peacock, with music by John Barry.

Based on the novel by Rosalind Erskine, the musical told the story of life in a girls' school and their efforts to meet boys from a neighbouring college.

It played at the Palace until August 24th when it transferred to the Prince of Wales Theatre in London. The show closed on New Year's Day 1966 after 148 performances.
