Homicide investigators in Langley are asking for the public's help in finding out more about the death of seven-year-old Aaliya (ah-LEE-ah) Rose.

Police say the girl's body was found Sunday night at the complex where she lived (at 200th street and 68th Avenue.)

Corporal Frank Jang of the Integrated Homicide Investigation says a 36-year-old woman who police believe was involved in the incident is under medical care.

Jang wouldn't say more about that claim, but says officers hope someone who may have seen the girl on Sunday will come forward to help their investigation. (The Canadian Press)

A Canadian Pacific Railway manager has been found guilty after a freight train carrying dangerous materials was parked illegally on a mountainside above Revelstoke in 2015.

Tim McClelland was found guilty under the Railway Safety Act of contravening a directive from Transport Canada specifying the number of handbrakes that must be applied to unattended railway equipment.

The emergency directive came out after the 2013 derailment of a freight train at Lac-Megantic, Quebec, that killed 47 people.

Canadian Pacific, McClelland and C-P superintendent Mark Jackson were charged with two counts of unlawfully contravening the emergency directive but the company and Jackson were acquitted. (The Canadian Press)
