JOSE Mourinho finds Liverpool's record spending 'funny' after Jurgen Klopp criticised United over the world-record £89m signing of Paul Pogba.

Two years ago, Klopp said: "Other clubs can go out and spend more money. I want to do it differently. I would even do it differently if I could spend that money. The day that this is football, I'm not in a job any more."

Liverpool have since shattered the world-record fee for a defender and goalkeeper by signing Virgil van Dijk for £75m and Alisson for £66.8m this calendar year.

The 1990 English champions have also bought Fabinho for £44m and Xherdan Shaqiri for £13m in the summer window, while they negotiated a £52.75m pre-contract deal for Naby Keita last year and Mourinho smiled upon remembering Klopp's comment in 2016. …
