MARCOS Rojo is considering his United future as the club continues its efforts to sign a centre-back.

Rojo has returned from his post-World Cup holiday and is nursing an injury but the Argentinian's absence from the United pre-season tour squad is also understood to be linked to his future.

It is thought United are preparing to jettison the 28-year-old less than five months after he signed a new contract.

Argentina international Rojo earns in the region of £160,000-a-week and is expected to make room at centre-half amid United's interest in Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld and Leicester's Harry Maguire.

United have already sold the versatile Daley Blind to Ajax for an initial £14.8m and are prepared to let Matteo Darmian return to Italy but are yet to receive an acceptable offer.

"He's been in contact with the medical department since the World Cup," Jose Mourinho said when asked about Rojo on Tuesday. …
