(BC-Protesters-Evicted)

Burnaby's city manager says unlawful structures, fires and overnight camping facilities at a pipeline protest camp need to go.

Lambert Chu says the city will seek an order from the B-C Supreme Court empowering it to enforce an eviction notice it issued on July 18th to remove buildings and trailers from the site.

The protest camp, dubbed "Camp Cloud," has grown to include two-storey structures, a shower and a sacred fire, and protesters have said they won't comply with the eviction order.

Burnaby is still part of a court challenge of the government's decision to allow the expansion of the Trans Mountain pipeline. (The Canadian Press)

A U-S scientist say a killer whale calf was born off Vancouver Island near Victoria, but it died before a research crew reached the site.

He calls the situation "tragic," saying the whale probably knows the calf is dead but is reluctant to let it go.

Balcomb says a large percentage of killer whale calves die, but in the last three years none of the calves born to the endangered southern resident population have survived. (The Canadian Press)

Police say the charges relate to three separate incidents involving a woman and a girl that allegedly occurred in 2016.

The band withdrew itself from consideration for the Juno Awards in Vancouver earlier this year and backed out of performing at the show after allegations about the 34-year-old Hoggard gained public attention. …
