AC Hotel opened Downtown Thursday at 1126 Smallman St., with a new restaurant called ... wait for it ... Level 7.

The hotel is being billed as "Pittsburgh's first European and Spanish-inspired hotel," with more than 130 rooms, along with meeting areas and co-working space. Like its unrelated predecessor, Fl. 2 at the Fairmont Hotel Pittsburgh, this hotel restaurant is also named for where it's located, which admittedly has a pretty great view of Downtown, facing the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

Expect a menu of toasts, small and share plates, along with a drink menu that showcases rose, sherry and craft cocktails. No word yet on the chef, although Dustin Kelly is the general manager.

News about the hotel first came in 2015, when Mark Laport of Concord Hospitality Enterprises - who, at that time, had built 13 hotels in the region - announced a new one by Marriott headed for Smallman. …
