Police Investigate after Teenager Is Stabbed in Street

AN investigation has been launched after a teenager was stabbed in the street.

Police confirmed that a 19-year-old man was taken to hospital after being found with a stab wound in Ashtonunder-Lyne. His injuries are understood to be serious, but not life-threatening. Kelvin Street was taped off following the incident.

AEmergency services were called to the street just after 6pm to reports of a 'disturbance'. It is believed the man was in a car on the street when he was approached by a group of people.

A fight broke out and during the fracas, a man is understood to have been stabbed. A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault. He has since been released under investigation.
