EMMELINE Pankhurst now has her famous coat on.

Her statue is nearing completion ahead of its Manchester unveiling, and the garment was recently added to her figure.

The Suffragette leader was chosen by the public to be the only woman other than Queen Victoria to be commemorated with a statue in the city, on the centenary of women being granted the vote.

Sculptor Hazel Reeves has spent the last four to five months working on the clay model, with a metal frame, which currently weighs around half a tonne.

It will eventually be cast in bronze and placed in St Peter's Square.

And she has shared images from her studio in Sussex which shows the statue is now very much taking shape.

Emmeline has her coat on with her trademark hat to be added in the coming weeks. …
