VANCOUVER. x-18s. An international rescue effort to save an endangered killer whale off the coast of B-C has hit a snag, as veterinarians wait for Canada to give the green light to their experimental plan. While scientists in American waters are armed with dart guns and salmon medicated with life-saving antibiotics that they are prepared to feed the emaciated orca known as J-50, those strategies can't be used on the whale if she's found in Canadian waters. Paul Cottrell of Fisheries and Oceans Canada says the federal department is working to get the licences in place.
