The Roman Catholic Diocese of Greensburg has substantiated an allegation dating back five decades against a Uniontown priest, and he will never return to ministry, Bishop Edward Malesic said Thursday.

The diocese suspended the Rev. James W. Clark after it received an allegation on June 28, but the diocese further reported that the allegation was "substantiated less than 24 hours" after receiving it on June 28.

Father Clark "is not coming back to ministry," Bishop Malesic said in an interview.

He did not give specifics, but an allegation is deemed "substantiated" through either an admission of guilt, a preponderance of evidence or a finding through the church's internal "canonical" or disciplinary process.
