DIOGO Dalot is making progress with his rehabilitation from surgery but United are 'taking it intentionally slow to make sure nothing is rushed', according to a source close to the player.

The 19-year-old suffered a knee injury in the final stages of Porto's title-winning campaign last season and underwent a minor operation in May. Although he was injured, United moved quickly to sign Dalot as there were a number of clubs also prepared to pay considerably more than his £17.5m release clause before it became active on June 30.

Dalot had a typical medical at Carrington, but only came off crutches last month. The Portuguese travelled on United's pre-season tour of the US and had to be patient when it came to striking a ball again as he trained away from the rest of his team-mates. …
