BC05 - (Wildfires-BC)

KAMLOOPS. x-15s. The B-C government has asked the federal government for help from the army as nearly 600 wildfires are burning in B-C. The provincial government made the request this morning -- seeking 200 armed forces members to mop up and patrol fires, as well as heavy lift aircraft to help reposition wildfire crews and equipment. B-C Wildfire Service spokesman Kevin Skrepnek says B-C is looking at what he describes as a "steady stream" of national and international resources to help with the wildfire battle -- although he said most of those are still being identified.
