Clearing: What Do I Do Now?

Article excerpt

GETTING your results can be a stressful time, especially if it doesn't all go to plan Clearing is the process run by UCAS to help students find a higher education course to study in September.

The Manchester College's Clearing team has compiled a list of frequently asked questions its hotline typically receives on results day… WHO CAN USE CLEARING? You can use clearing if you haven't yet applied to study in 2018, if you aren't holding any offers at a university or college, or if your exams haven't gone as planned and you haven't secured a place you were holding.

WHEN CAN I USE CLEARING? It's available from July to September. If you already have your exam results but you have no offers, you can use Clearing from July. If you had conditional offers but your exam results didn't go to plan, you can use Clearing from results day, when Clearing vacancies will be listed in the UCAS search tool.

WHERE CAN I FIND CLEARING VACANCIES AT THE MANCHESTER COLLEGE? All Clearing vacancies are listed on the UCAS search tool from July. You can check UCAS here www.ucas.com/?tile=tile-286 and you can contact The Manchester College on 03333 222 444 to discuss the courses we offer.

HOW DO I ADD A CLEARING CHOICE AT THE MANCHESTER COLLEGE? Contact us by calling 03333 222 444 and we'll be happy to discuss our courses and entry requirements. If you meet our conditions, then you'll be given a verbal offer. You can then log on to UCAS, go to the 'Your choices' section of Track and click 'Add Clearing choice', then enter the details of the course.

HOW DO I REPLY TO A CLEARING OFFER? You don't need to reply to a Clearing offer. Once you add the choice, we'll confirm it.

I DON'T WANT MY FIRM CHOICE; CAN I USE CLEARING? If you change your mind and no longer want to go to your firm choice, you need to call this institution to discuss your options. If they give you permission to change your choice, they'll release you into Clearing - once they do this, your Track status will be updated and you'll receive an email to say something has changed. …
