KEVIN de Bruyne has suffered a serious knee injury which could keep him out until October.

The City midfielder was hurt in training yesterday and, while the full extent will not be known until further scans in the next couple of days, there is a suspicion it is similar to the knee problem that kept him out for nine weeks in his debut season with the Blues. De Bruyne tore knee and ankle ligaments in the League Cup win over Everton in 2016, and missed a big chunk of the season.

The good news is a far more serious cruciate ligament injury appears to have been ruled out.

City confirmed De Bruyne has suffered an injury, saying in a statement on their website that he is 'undergoing tests on his right knee after sustaining an injury at training on Wednesday.' The added: "The extent of the problem is not yet known and we will bring you further updates on Kevin's condition in due course. …
