Emma's Mission to Inspire Women Civil Engineers

THE new head of the regional branch of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is hoping to inspire more women into the industry.

Emma Antrobus takes the role of regional director for the North West, after almost 20 years as regional manager of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

She built a career on managing stakeholders across a variety of engineering projects and initiatives, including HS2 and the Northern Hub rail project.

In her new role she wants to champion the vital role civil engineers play in the region's economy and encourage the next generation, particularly women, to join the profession.

Antrobus said: "The industry is changing as the pace of digital transformation increases and this offers a range of interesting and challenging roles. We are highlighting the many and varied opportunities and, at the same time, need to improve diversity in both gender and background. …
