Scholes Says Pog Should Have Been Skipper for Two Years

PAUL Scholes thinks Paul Pogba should have been made United captain when he rejoined the club in 2016.

The French World Cup winner continues to be linked with a potential move away from the club amid rumours of a strained relationship with manager Jose Mourinho.

And Scholes believes he would have benefited from the added responsibility of being handed the captain's armband after his then-world record transfer from Juventus.

Pogba was dropped from the starting XI on occasion during the second half of last season and Barcelona are said to be interested in the Frenchman.

Despite the media speculation, Pogba captained United as they secured an opening day victory over Leicester and Mourinho insists he's never been happier with the 25-year-old than now.

Scholes, on BBC 5 Live Sport discussing the rumours surrounding Pogba and Mourinho, said: "There's obviously some kind of breakdown in their relationship from what we read. …
