NAT090 - (Obit-Aretha-Franklin) (NOT FOR ONLINE USE) DETROIT. x-10s. The preacher's daughter who rose to become the undisputed "Queen of Soul" has died. Aretha Franklin passed away at her home in Detroit this morning at the age of 76 from advanced pancreatic cancer. Franklin sang at the dedication of the Reverend Martin Luther King Junior's memorial in 2011 and performed at the inaugurations of presidents Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama. Robert Smith Jr. is the current pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit, where Franklin's father had been a pastor. Smith says Franklin's voice was one of a kind. ("..Star Spangled Banner.")
