TEACHERS and pupils at Cheadle Hulme High School celebrated a bumper year of A-level results.

Nearly a third of students achieved a three or more A* or A grades with 77 per cent of all grades at A*-B. More than 70pc of their of students have been accepted at their first-choice university with many going to top universities.

Students Harriet Ruane and Megan Johnson are looking forward to life at Cambridge University after scooping straight As.

Harriet, who scored two A*s and an A, is going to Trinity College to read classics, and Megan, who achieved three A*s, is off to Girton to read modern and medieval languages.

"I can't quite believe it. I've been feeling really nervous," said Harriet.

And Megan, who has ambitions to become an interpreter, added: "I'm really happy about my results and looking forward to going to Cambridge. …
