Brentwood Drives Past Border Rival Carrick Milcic Involved in Three Scores in Lopsided Win

Brentwood easily claimed a 35-7 home victory against border rival Carrick of the City League Friday night in the opener for both teams.

John Milcic led the winning Spartans by rushing for two touchdowns. He also accounted for a 15-yard touchdown pass to Drew Wilson. Brentwood's Ian Thomas added two short touchdown runs.

The Raiders were led by L.J. Orbovich who passed for 113 yards. Class 2A Brentwood led in total offensive yardage, 271-174, while piling up 16 first downs to nine for Carrick.

CLASS 2A

* Serra Catholic 44, Yough 25: The host Eagles led, 27-7, at halftime. Patrick Brennan threw two touchdown passes to Matt Ulishney, covering 63 and 50 yards for Serra. Ulishney finished the scoring with a 50-yard punt return in the fourth quarter.

* Southmoreland 18, Mount Pleasant 14: Brandon Peterson caught an 11-yard fourth-quarter pass for a touchdown from Zach Curnuto to lead the Scotties to a win in their home opener. Curnuto finished with 279 yards passing. Ronnie Robinson scored twice on the ground for Southmoreland in the win.

* Fort Cherry 20, Chartiers-Houston 13: The Rangers earned a road victory against the Buccaneers as Zachary Vincenti rushed for two touchdowns. Vincenti finished with 159 yards rushing on 18 carries for Fort Cherry which came back from an early 7-0 deficit.

* Avonworth 49, Neshannock 21: Derek Johncour passed for 347 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Antelopes to victory at Neshannock. Jax Miller led the Avonworth ground attack with 148 yards rushing.

* McGuffey 28, Ambridge 0: The Highlanders blanked the 4A Bridgers at home as Christian Clutter accounted for every McGuffey touchdown. Clutter scored on a rushing touchdown and also returned a punt and a kickoff for a touchdown. Finally, Clutter scored on a 24-yard reception from Marshall Whipkey.
