Board Oks More Efficient Natural Gas Rates School Director Says District Will Save $100K over Three Years

The North Allegheny School District will save money by locking in lower natural gas rates.

The school board on Aug. 15 approved agreements from PESCO Energy for the purchase and delivery of natural gas for all buildings. Board member Rick McClure said the district will save more than $100,000 over three years with the new rates.

Peoples/Equitable Gas Company will provide gas to the majority of the district's buildings, all located in McCandless. Peoples/T.W. Phillips will provide the gas for the Marshall campus, while Bradford Woods Elementary gets its gas from Columbia.

The agreements run through August 2021.

The board also approved tuition rates for non-district residents for the upcoming school year: $6,326 for kindergarten; $12,653 for elementary and $13,266 for secondary. …
