FORMER POLICE OFFICER FINED IN TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

A now-retired Pittsburgh police officer accused of lying about a crash in which he was involved while on duty will pay a fine of $25.

Arnie Chisom, 58, of the North Side, was charged in May with a misdemeanor, accidents involving damage to a vehicle and two summary offenses: giving false information and failure to stop and give information.

Police said Mr. Chisom rear-ended a woman's vehicle May 4 at Fifth and Sixth avenues, Downtown, while he was driving a patrol car. He got out and told the woman to pull over, but he then returned to his vehicle and drove away.

He told investigators he left because the woman was not hurt and he didn't see any damage. But police said both vehicles were visibly damaged. …
