The Penguins announced Wednesday their schedule for training camp, which begins Friday morning at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry. All four days of training camp are open to the public and free of charge.

The first practice is at 9 a.m. Friday and will be followed by a scrimmage that runs from 10-10:45 a.m. Another group of players will hit the ice that morning at 11:30 a.m. and practice until 12:15 p.m.

The Penguins will stick to that same schedule Saturday and Sunday. Monday, after a pair of morning practices that run from 9 to 10:45 a.m., they will wrap up camp with a championship game at 11 a.m.

The Penguins have invited to camp 56 players - 32 forwards, 18 defensemen and 6 goalies. They will be split into three squads, with the two meeting in that championship. …
