Car Dealer, Bookkeeper Sentenced for Roles in Tax Fraud

A Westmoreland County used car dealer indicted three years ago and his bookkeeper were sentenced Friday in federal court to probation for pulling a tax fraud scheme related to concealing true ownership of car dealerships in Westmoreland and Allegheny counties.

U.S. District Judge Nora Barry Fischer imposed a term of four years of probation on Robert W. Richards, who lives in Greensburg, and two years on Jennifer Kay Morrison of Belle Vernon. She ordered Richards to serve the first 180 days of his term on home detention and Morrison to serve 90 days on home detention.

The judge also ordered them to pay $141,732 in restitution to the IRS.

The pair was indicted in 2015 on tax fraud counts related to Richards' car dealerships in Greensburg, Jeannette and McKeesport. …
