OFFICERS investigating a crash are trying to find the owners of a bin found in the back of a car.

Police were called to Stanley Grove in Longsight when a blue Toyota Avensis struck a stationary Fiat Stilo. Moments later the Toyota hit a Mercedes mini bus.

A man in his 50s suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition.

A woman in her 70s was also hurt in the crash and has since been released from hospital.

Police are now looking for the owners of a bin found in the back of one of the cars. The black recyclingtype bin was found inside the Toyota among a large amount of other waste including tiles and carpets.

Police believe the bin, which has the number 407 painted on it, could help them solve their investigation and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Sergeant Lee Westhead said: "We're hoping that by tracing the steps back to where this waste is from we'll be able to find that final piece of the jigsaw and identify who is responsible. …
