True Blues Vera, 102 and Olga, Take a Bow

BEING a football mascot is usually a role reserved for the youngest fans.

But in a gesture that warmed the hearts of supporters around the world Manchester City were led out on to the pitch at the weekend by two of their oldest followers. Vera Cohen, 102, and Olga Halon, 98, who have been season ticket holders since the 1930s, proudly wore their City shirts as they met the players and boss Pep Guardiola before the game with Fulham at the Etihad.

Vera, who hails from Didsbury, has been attending matches for over 85 years and is still a match-goer with Olga, son Danny and son-in-law Roger.

She spoke to Guardiola in the dugout and they met again at full-time.

Vera said: "Pep said Hello to me and I said, 'Thank you for all you've done for this team.' "Things used to be very different when I first came. …
