Doyle, Dorothy Ann Mitchell died peacefully on September 16, 2018, at her home in Atlanta, Georgia, surrounded by her family. She was born in Monroe, Louisiana, Ouachita Parish, on November 7, 1929, to parents Elma Bledsoe Mitchell from Atkins, Arkansas, and Walter Millard Mitchell from Chatham, Louisiana. She had one sibling, Thomas Millard Mitchell, born in 1935. Dorothy graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 1946 and, in 1950, from Louisiana State University, where she was President of Chi Omega. She earned her master's degree from Yale University in 1953. Throughout her career, she taught English literature and composition at high school and college levels, inspiring a love of poetry and language in young people. At Yale, Dorothy made several lifelong friends and reunited with her college boyfriend, James Fender Doyle. …
