Merger Plans That May Deliver 1,300 Homes

TWO social landlords are in talks to merge - speeding up plans to build hundreds of homes.

The deal, which would bring Bolton at Home and Arcon Housing Group under together, could accelerate plans to build 1,300 new homes in the region by 2023. The discussions are in their early stages but both boards are behind the move.

In a joint statement, Jon Lord, CEO of Bolton at Home Limited and Bernard Gallagher, CEO of Arcon Housing Group, said: "The coming together of our housing associations will further increase the supply of much-needed homes for both rent and affordable home ownership, and support our collective ambitions to broaden our housing offer."

Bolton at Home is the bigger partner with almost 18,000 homes in its portfolio, while Arcon, based in Salford, has just over 1,100. …
