A POSTMASTER of 64 was attacked with a machete by a gang of masked robbers.

Police said he was 'crouched on the floor in fear' when he was 'struck' by the weapon.

The man was taken to hospital to be treated for what police described as serious injuries to his shin.

Three men and a woman were arrested on suspicion of robbery after the raid at Castle Hill Post Office, Tonge Moor Road, Bolton . Police said a quantity of Euros was stolen in the raid. Two men - one armed with a machete - burst into the post office at around 3.05pm on September 11.

They approached the counter and demanded money from the postmaster before he was attacked. The men escaped in a black Nissan X-Trail that was parked on Warby Street with a driver waiting inside.

The vehicle was later discovered in Salford. …
