Yankees Begin Planning for Postseason Run

NEW YORK — The playoff strategy sessions have begun in the Bronx.

"We had an organizational meeting a few days ago, the first one where we had front office members, coaches, myself," Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on Friday, a day after the Red Sox clinched the AL East at Yankee Stadium.

Over the final 10 regular season games, the Yankees will prioritize keeping their AL wild card while also resting certain players and getting others – such as closer Aroldis Chapman – into form as the Oct. 3 win-or-go-home game nears.

"We'll pour kind of everything into that wild card game," Boone said of the strategy.

Looking ahead, J.A. Happ seems the ideal choice to potentially start twice against the Red Sox in a best-of-five Division Series, but the veteran lefty – for example – could be the consensus choice to pitch an elimination game against Oakland. …
