NAT037 - (NS-Medical-Specialists) HALIFAX. x-05s. The Nova Scotia government says it is spending 2.8-million dollars to recruit nine new medical specialists to the province. The announcement follows a promise to fund 15 new seats at Dalhousie University's medical school for medical specialist residencies that will focus on training doctors in under-serviced areas of Nova Scotia. Health Minister Randy Delorey says the latest announcements are part of the planning process, but are also a recognition more work needs to be done in a province plagued by ongoing doctor shortages.
