The Peters Township Federation of Teachers and the school district have reached an agreement to extend the current teachers contract to June 30, 2024.

The board approved the agreement Monday by an 8-0 vote. Board member Jamison Hardy was absent.

The current contract was set to expire June 30, 2021. The union represents the district's 279 teachers, counselors and nurses.

Under the new agreement, teachers will receive a $1,400 annual salary increase effective for the 2021-22 school year.

According to the district, the agreement also includes changes in health care that "financially benefit the district while maintaining quality healthcare options for the staff."

"This agreement helps us to maintain our positive relationship with the Federation," said Brad Rau, business manager for the district. …
