Six Mars Area Students Injured in Bus Accident

Six students were injured Monday afternoon when a Mars Area School District bus went off the road and down an embankment along Route 228 in Butler County.

The district said in a statement that the six injured students were taken to a hospital by ambulance. The remaining students either were transported by bus to UPMC Passavant or released to their parents.

All students who were transported to the hospital were treated and released, according to the district.

The crash involved bus No. 4 about 3 p.m. near Warrendale Road.Pittsburgh Post-Gazette news partner KDKA-TV reported that the bus was traveling westbound in a construction zone when it clipped a cushion on the end of a concrete barrier. The bus driver then lost control.
