Mendy Attends Joshua Victory as He Nurses Injury

BENJAMIN Mendy was in attendance as Anthony Joshua knocked out Alexander Povetkin in the seventh round to defend his world titles at Wembley on Saturday.

The City left-back was absent from the Blues' 5-0 demolition of Cardiff, but rolled up at the National Stadium to take in Joshua's impressive victory.

City boss Pep Guardiola confirmed in his pre-match press conference ahead of the win in South Wales that the World Cup winner was struggling with a metatarsal problem, with Fabian Delph deputising at full-back for the Premier League Champions.

Mendy, whose first season at the Etihad was hampered by a serious knee injury, was pictured carrying Joshua's belts after the fight.

"Just when you thought I didn't win enough trophies in 2018," the 24-year-old joked on Twitter. …
